Ubuntu Unity release lifecycle

How LTS and regular releases are supported, and what we recommend today.

Release types

LTS releases focus on long-term stability.
Regular releases ship newer stacks but are supported for less time.

Current recommendation

For most users, Ubuntu Unity 24.04.4 LTS is the recommended baseline and is supported until 2027.

26.04 and 25.04 status

Ubuntu Unity 26.04 is planned as a regular release (not LTS).
Ubuntu Unity 25.04 is end of life (EOL).

Upgrade guidance

Stay on 24.04.4 LTS for stability. Check release announcements before upgrading so you can follow the officially recommended path.
